Description:
This presentation takes a foundational approach to understanding the relationship between breast anatomy, milk flow dynamics, and breast shield design. Using real-time ultrasound imaging, we will explore how different shield characteristics can directly impact milk removal efficiency during expression. Participants will gain insight into the physiological mechanisms, optimal expression settings, and the impact of shield design features on milk removal from the breast. By returning to these fundamental principles, we will be better equipped to support mothers in achieving effective milk expression based on her individual anatomy and physiology.
