Meet our leadership team

Thomas Golücke, CEO and CCO Professional Care (a.i.)

"Leading Medela is a privilege. We are a company grounded in science and guided by a clear mission: Innovating Care. Evolving with You. Whether we support moms, families, patients, or healthcare professionals, our purpose is to create solutions that truly resonate — solutions shaped by their needs and capable of making a meaningful difference in their lives.

In my role as CEO, and now also as interim leader of our Professional Care business, my focus is on strengthening how we serve our customers to the best of our ability. Across Consumer and Professional Care, we develop products and solutions informed by real customer needs, scientific and consumer insights, and emerging trends. From intuitive breastfeeding and pumping solutions to clinically proven medical devices, our ambition is to deliver offerings that are innovative, efficient, integrated, and grounded in evidencebased care.

Having been part of Medela for more than a decade, I remain inspired by the passion of our teams and the impact of our work around the world. What defines us is our ability to translate science and insights into innovative care – helping moms feel confident, enabling clinicians to achieve better outcomes, and supporting patients to recover faster, with greater comfort and assurance."

Thomas Golücke is the Group CEO of Medela. He joined Medela Group in 2014 and served as EVP Europe Americas until July 2024, before he was promoted to CEO. Thomas Ertl, COO

“At Medela, operational excellence is the foundation that enables us to deliver on our mission of Innovating Care. Evolving with You. Across our entire organization, we ensure that every product and solution begins with the highest standards of quality and ends with meaningful value for the people who rely on us.

We continuously strengthen every part of our value chain – from sourcing and manufacturing to logistics and distribution – because each link plays a critical role in delivering reliable, intuitive, and trusted solutions. Our focus is not only on maintaining a strong operational backbone, but on constantly elevating our standards to support innovation, customer needs, and global trends.

In Operations, this means driving continuous improvement, responsible resource management, and environmental stewardship, while ensuring full compliance with the regulatory requirements that govern medical devices and consumer products worldwide. These commitments safeguard the integrity of our products and reinforce the trust our customers place in us.

For me, operations is ultimately about enabling better care. When we enhance our systems and capabilities, we empower clinicians with integrated, efficient tools, support mothers with dependable solutions, and help advance healthier outcomes. That is the impact we strive to create – every day, across every market we serve.”

Thomas Ertl joined Medela Group in 2019 as COO. Before this, Thomas held a number of Operations, Quality and Regulatory leadership roles at Baxter and Gambro.

Kelley Evans, CCO Consumer Care (a.i.)

“As someone who has spent her career in the mom and baby space — and as a former Medela mom myself — supporting women through the realities of feeding and early motherhood is deeply personal to me. Our mission, Innovating Care. Evolving with You., comes to life in Consumer Care by truly understanding the mother behind every choice, every challenge, and every moment of her journey.

Today’s moms are diverse, dynamic, and incredibly informed. They deserve products and services shaped by real consumer needs and insights – solutions that are intuitive, comfortable, confidencebuilding, and designed to fit seamlessly into her life. Whether she’s preparing for her first feeding, finding her rhythm at home, or navigating the demands of returning to work, we are committed to being exactly where she is: in the channels she trusts, with the guidance, support, and experiences she values most. Across reliable and highperforming personaluse pumps, supportive Essentials, and meaningful services, our solutions are built to accompany her through every stage of her breastfeeding journey — always with her real life, real routine, and real needs at the center.

It is an honor to lead this team as we continue to listen to moms, learn from their experiences, and deliver solutions that make a real difference, nurturing health."

Kelley Evans joined Medela Group in 2024 as EVP Americas. Previously, Kelley held various senior leadership roles in Sales, eCommerce and Strategic Partnerships at MAM Baby, Frida and Munchkin.

Christoph Karthaus, CTO

"At Medela, innovation begins with understanding the people we serve. With more than 20 years in the MedTech industry, my focus is not on technology for its own sake, but on engineering solutions that are highquality, efficient, sustainable, and truly shaped by the realworld needs of moms, patients, and healthcare professionals. Our mission – innovating care to nurture health - guides how we translate scientific and customer insights into products and systems that make a meaningful difference in daily life and clinical practice.

Our goal is to advance beyond standalone devices toward integrated, smart health ecosystems. By leveraging digital health and AI, by combining hardware, software, and mechatronics, and by modular platform thinking, we aim to ensure that every technical advancement delivers tangible benefits: better clinical outcomes, more intuitive user experiences, and greater confidence for those relying on our solutions.

This is how we innovate with intention – by turning insights into impact and engineering into care."

Christoph Karthaus joined Medela Group in 2026 as CTO. He brings over two decades of experience in life sciences, invitro diagnostics, and MedTech, having held CTO leadership roles at companies including CTC Analytics and Tecan AG.

Johanna Leffler, CFO

“Medela is driven by a strong mission that brings together scientific rigor, customer insight, meaningful innovation, and a deep commitment to care — brought to life by the passion and skills of our 1,500 employees worldwide. In Finance, IT, and Legal, our role extends far beyond traditional stewardship. We serve as strategic partners to the business, providing guidance and insight, and establishing the governance and transparency needed to make sound decisions and deliver value to the moms, families, patients, and healthcare professionals we serve.

Customer centricity starts with strong foundations. By safeguarding financial health, enabling efficient resource allocation, and upholding the highest standards of legal compliance, we create the conditions that allow our teams to innovate with confidence, act efficiently, and serve our customers with clarity. This is further strengthened by a resilient, modern IT environment — secure, connected, and data-driven — that enhances how we operate and how we support our customers across both Business Units.

Together with my team, I am committed to building a sustainable, futureproof foundation that empowers our people, strengthens trust, and fuels Medela’s ability to grow — nurturing health for generations to come.”

Johanna Leffler joined Medela Group in 2023 as CFO. Johanna is an experienced financial leader with a track record of value creation, having served in senior leadership roles for global industrial companies such as Dormakaba and Holcim.
