Empowering our Community

Society

At Medela, our mission is to improve the lives of moms, babies, and patients through our technologies and services. We are committed to supporting parents along their journey by eliminating barriers and increasing access to breast milk feeding resources, education, and products globally. By partnering with other like-minded organizations globally and creating an ecosystem of partners to maximize the impact of our activities in alignment with our mission, we continue to fight maternal and infant mortality and malnutrition.

To advance our mission globally through expanded resources and programs encouraging breast milk feeding while protecting mothers’ and babies’ lives, we are focused on three areas:

Annette Brüls, CEO of Medela "We aspire to have a broader impact, going beyond our direct business, to serve those around us in areas that align with our expertise and our passion." Read our Serving Society Statement

Fighting infant and maternal mortality and malnutrition

In the area of vacuum-assisted delivery, we will support and partner with leading institutions to fight maternal and infant mortality. Medela has joined forces with The Wellness Foundation Africa to improve the support offered to new mothers in Nigeria by delivering NICU-specific education and training on the value of human milk and benefits of long-term breastfeeding.

With our expertise in lactation and investment in human milk research and clinical education, we understand that our most fragile infants in the NICU need breast milk to thrive.

Protecting the most vulnerable infants

We will support leading scientific associations with the development of standard of care protocols and guidelines.

Increasing global access to quality healthcare, education and resources

We will actively partner with local healthcare professionals around the world, including nurses, midwives and caregivers. Through these partnerships, as one Medela family, we strive to serve society by removing barriers to access and making a lasting improvement in the lives of families around the world.
