Company Update: Our Commitment to Breastfeeding

For more than 60 years, Medela has been dedicated to advancing breastfeeding and lactation through science, research, education, and innovative solutions. To further strengthen this focus and ensure alignment with the World Health Organization's International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes, Medela is making a pivotal change to its portfolio.

Medela will discontinue the sale of feeding bottles and teats effective July 1, 2025. Production and sourcing have already ceased, and the manufacturing of pacifiers ended in November 2024.

This decision, jointly led by Chairman Michael Larsson, CEO Thomas Golücke, and with full support from the Board of Directors and Group Management, reflects our strong commitment to prioritizing breastfeeding and lactation support, and reaffirms Medela’s mission to champion breastfeeding globally.

By removing products that might fall within the scope of the WHO Code, Medela is strengthening its collaboration with the research, breastfeeding, and lactation communities, and remaining its focus on supporting breastfeeding families worldwide.

Medela will continue to offer innovative breastfeeding solutions and expert support, including breast pumps, storage bottles, and breast care solutions, as well as providing medical and specialty feeding options and enteral feeding solutions. These solutions help to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding by focusing on milk expression and breast care—key factors for a successful breastfeeding journey—and by assisting with challenges such as achieving a full milk supply and successful direct breastfeeding. Through this commitment, which we pursue with clarity, care, and dedication, we aim to ensure that every baby has access to breast milk—the best possible nutrition for a strong start in life.
