Data Protection Information for Conference Participants

The protection of your privacy is important to us. Therefore, we would like to provide you with the following information (“Data Protection Information”).

2. Legal ground and purpose of the processing of your personal data

We may collect your personal data during your visit at the conference or event. We process your personal data exclusively to contact you after the conference or event and to process your request/enquiry, e.g. to provide you with the service information you asked for. Your request/enquiry will be handled by Medela or, as necessary, by one of our local affiliated group companies or authorized distributor responsible for handling the topics addressed in your request/enquiry for your jurisdiction. We may also process your personal data to provide you information about Medela's services, products, training and events, as well as information on current topics that may be of interest to you by e-mail or phone.

The processing is based on our legitimate interest in fulfilling your request/enquiry and maintaining relationships with customers and prospects.

  • Process your request/enquiry
  • Promoting our products and services to relevant business contacts
  • Maintaining and developing business relationships
  • Providing updates and invitations to company events and webinars

You may object to such communications at any time by contacting us at the contact details provided in section 7 or by following the instruction at the bottom of our email.

All personal data collected will be processed exclusively for the above-mentioned purposes. They are neither processed automatically nor analyzed in relation to personal aspects (profiling).

4. Recipients or categories of recipients

For the above purpose, Medela may has engaged other service providers (e.g. application for sending future communications, social media/messenger/network provider) to process your personal data on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions. Medela has entered into agreements with these service providers to ensure that your personal data is adequately protected. The service providers may not disclose your personal data to unauthorized third parties or use your personal data for purposes other than as instructed.

As mentioned in section 2, we may share your personal data with a local Medela group affiliate or an authorized distributor to process your request/enquiry. 

5. Place and duration of storage of your personal data

Your personal data is stored on servers in the European Union. Your data will be stored until you withdraw your consent or object to receive our communications.

6. Transmission of personal data abroad

Some local Medela group affiliates, authorized distributor and service providers are located in countries outside that do not provide for the same level of data protection as in your country of residence. Medela has entered into an agreement with these parties in an effort to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to protect your personal data in accordance with applicable requirements.

7.  How to exercise your privacy rights

The following data protection rights describe the commonly known privacy standards. However, some rights may not apply according to local privacy law.

Right of access: You have the right to obtain information about your personal data that has been collected about you, processed or, where applicable, disclosed to third parties.

Right to rectification: You have the right to have inaccurate personal data corrected or completed.

Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): Subject to legal retention obligations, you have the right to have your personal data deleted - for example, if your personal data is no longer necessary for the original purpose for which it was collected.

Right to restriction of data processing: you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data, for example, if the processing is unlawful or the accuracy of your personal data is contested.

Right to data portability: You have the right to obtain a copy of the personal data. You may request that your personal data be transferred to you or, if technically possible, to another data controller of your choice.

Right to object: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for certain purposes or to withdraw your consent to such processing.

Please note that the exercise of the above rights may not be guaranteed in exceptional cases due to legal or regulatory requirements.
